I found this gem among the dozens of White TLK humanizations. It’s one of the few that showcases most characters from the movies.
Why is Rafiki White? Actually, why are any of them White? And the ones that are brown all have straight hair..

I’d say they were more of a brownish-gold.
Maybe they’re caucasian because the color they are in the movie is a sort of golden oreo color as opposed to a darker brown (Although Rafiki was most definitely not a golden oreo color- why is he caucasian?). It may make some sense, considering that the bad guys were more of a darker brown color. :/
Rafiki…was a Baboon. He was…blue. The Lion King was an animated feature…loosely based off Hamlet themes…with lions. Yellow lions with flowing chestnut manes and brown lions with mangy black manes. It’s just use of colour theory and people should be free to reimagine things however they like. You know. Like a sassy Asian Watson. Or Black Cinderella. An artist’s first vantage point is themselves so chances are…their drawings are going to reflect that. The pendulum swings both ways.
